About The CompetitionThe Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award, a national public-speaking event, was in high demand again in 2009, receiving over 400 entries from more than 200 schools across NSW. Founded in 1995, the Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award was established to develop the confidence of students aged 12 to 14, as well as to develop their oral communication skills.
All students compete for the title of NSW State Winner, which carries with it a $500 cash prize. The NSW State Final of the Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award is open to the public, and will take place on Thursday 22 October 2009 in the Domain Theatre, Art Gallery of NSW. The winner and runner-up from this event will go on to represent NSW at the National Finals, to be held in Brisbane on 9 November 2009.
