2009 Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition

About the competition

The Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition has two divisions, one for Years 3 and 4 students and one for Years 5 and 6 students. Entrants deliver a prepared speech selected from a list of topics provided by the competition organisers (The Arts Unit and Multicultural Programs Unit). Entrants are also given limited preparation time to deliver an impromptu speech on a topic provided by the adjudicators.

 

In 2009 a total of 1070 students entered the Years 3 and 4 competition and 1124 students entered the Years 5 and 6 competition. To reach the State Finals, students must be successful at School Heats and then Local and Regional Finals. In 2009 saw 82 Local Finals held in schools ranging from Broken Hill in the west to Bangor in the east, from Figtree in the State’s south to Forster in the north, which will culminate in State Finals at the Teachers Federation Conference Centre and the Eugene Goossens Hall at the ABC Centre in Sydney.
