Sydney EisteddfodCherrybrook H.S. - Sydney Eisteddfod

The McDonald’s Performing Arts Challenge is widely regarded as the largest and most successful competitive festival of its type in the world. Its program is crammed with three hundred-plus events for classical and contemporary singers, dancers, musicians, actors, bands, choirs and orchestras, along with creative sections for aspiring composers, writers and poets. It runs from June to September and draws around 26,000 entries annually.

Since beginning as the City of Sydney Eisteddfod in 1933, the Challenge has served as a launching pad for many brilliant careers and contributed a wealth of cultural capital to the Australian nation. Its function is to identify and encourage talent in every area of the performing arts by providing entrants with constructive criticism, prizes and scholarships.

North Syd Demo School - Sydney EisteddfodPerforming in public is confidence building and, although the competition attracts serious performers, many enter for fun. The Challenge caters for all ages. Not everybody wins, but everyone learns from the experience and most thoroughly enjoy it.
