ARTEXPRESS

2008 marks the 25th Anniversary of Artexpress, an exhibition of outstanding work by High School Certificate Visual Art students. To mark the anniversary, the senior students from Dulwich High School of Visual Art and Design have curated an exhibition of works from the William Wilkins Memorial Collection currently displayed at the Head Office of the NSW Department of Education and Training, Level 7, 35 Bridge Street, Sydney.

in 2007, 9283 students submitted artworks as part of the 2007 Higher School Certificate Visual Arts Examination. From these works, nine distinct Artexpress exhibitions have been selected. The nine Artexpress exhibitions include the work of 279 students from schools across New South Wales. The regional exhibitions are comprised of 116 works selected from the five metropolitan exhibitions and additional works selected for tour only. In all the Artexpress exhibitions there are 64 students from country NSW. The total number of puieces for the touring exhibition is 3273.

The five metropolitan exhibitions will include the David Jones department store windows in Sydney (48 works), the Art Gallery of NSW (62 works), the College of Fine Arts - UNSW (43 works), Sydney Olympic Park (66 works) and the Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre (57 works). The regional exhibitions will begin at the Wollongong City Gallery (50 works), followed by Newcastle Region Art Gallery (59 works), Dubbo Regional Gallery - The Amrati Bequest at the Western Plains Cultural Centre (57 works) then finish in August at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery (63 works).

The Artexpress exhibition consists of the complete range of media submitted for the High School Certificate in Visual Arts and includes a comprehensive screening of film and animation in all gallery venues.
