NSW Department of Education and Training: The Arts Unit

Painting

"My Ideal Bedroom" (Jason Ramirez, Caddies Creek Public School)Possible media for works in this category could include:

  • acrylic paints
  • oil paints
  • edicol dyes
  • watercolours
  • poster paints or gouache

Why not consider:

  • mixing acrylic paint with sand, PVA, sawdust, plaster of paris or modelling compound.
  • applying paint with different implements such as a range of brush sizes, cardboard offcuts, strings, feathers, sponges etc.
  • using a range of surfaces such as brown paper, cloth, cardboard etc.
  • combining painting with other forms.

There are also hundreds of examples of student works and lessons available on the Teaching Resources CD available through The Arts Unit. For a more "hands-on" approach, why not look at attending one of the Operation Art Workshops which are held in many locations across New South Wales.
