2010 Drama Teachers Weekend Workshops

The Arts Unit

The Arts Unit is presenting one day of workshops where teachers can choose to study one of the following areas:

 

• Design for the Theatre (Set and Costume)
• Voice Skills
• Writing for the Theatre

 

These workshops will provide teachers with practical strategies to use in the drama classroom.

 

The presenters for the 2010 workshops are yet to be confirmed. The presenters for the 2009 workshops were:

 

Each of these presenters have worked extensively with secondary schools students at events such as the annual State Drama Camp or with the NSW Public Schools Drama Ensembles program.

 

Professional Teaching Standards

These courses address the following elements of the NSW Institute of Teachers Professional teaching standards:

 

1.2.1  Apply and use knowledge of the content/discipline(s) through effective, content-rich, teaching activities and programs relevant to the stage.

 

2.2.3  Apply practical and theoretical knowledge and understanding of the different approaches to learning to enhance student outcomes.

 

4.2.4  Design and facilitate a variety of group structures that facilitate student engagement to make content meaningful.

 

The Voice Skills and Writing For The Theatre workshops may be counted as 5 hours of Teacher Identified Professional Learning.

 

The Design (Set and Costume) workshop may be counted as 7 hours of Teacher Identified Professional Learning as it includes 2 hours of compulsory reading before the workshop.
