NSW Public Schools Jazz Orchestra big winners at Generations In Jazz

Congratulations to the NSW Public Schools Jazz Orchestra on their win at the recent Generations In Jazz Festival held at Mount Gambier, South Australia. For the second year in a row, the Jazz Orchestra, under the expert guidance of Tim Crow, won first place in the Division A Stage Band awards. From all reports, there have been many fantastic comments about our Jazz Orchestra - particularly from the principal adjudicator Mr James Morrison.

 

Four of the Jazz Orchestra members were selected from the hundreds of participating musicians at the Festival to play in the Division A Super Band.  Four student musicians were also selected to take part in the 'Future Soloist Star' competition with our own Evan Harris from the Conservatorium High School the ultimate winner.

Millennium Marching Band carries flag in Sydney ANZAC Day Parade

Once again the NSW Public Schools Millennium Marching Band displayed their talents in the annual ANZAC Day Parade held in the Sydney CBD.  Over 125 students from secondary and central schools from across the state proudly displayed the talent that exists in our public schools as they completed the parade route on three separate occasions.  Many of our students proudly wore medals of family members past and present who have served our country in the armed forces.  A crowd estimated at over 100,000 showed their appreciation with enthusiastic applause for the colour and pageantry that is a hallmark of this wonderful ensemble.  Congratulations to all who gave of their time to make ANZAC Day the truly special day it has become.
