2010 Festival of Instrumental Music

Festival of Instrumental MusicThe 2010 Festival of Instrumental Music will feature the Combined Recorder Ensemble and the Combined String Ensemble performing at the Sydney Opera House together with instrumental and vocal performances from outstanding public school ensembles from across New South Wales.

The 2010 Festival of Instrumental Music is a unique opportunity for primary and early secondary recorder and string players and their teachers to access high quality repertoire and teaching CDs, as well as professional learning workshops for teachers and combined metropolitan rehearsal or country cluster rehearsals for students. The program culminates in performances at the Sydney Opera House on 31 May - 3 June 2010.

Festival of Instrumental MusicEvery public school applying for inclusion in the Festival will have access to comprehensive teacher professional learning and preliminary student rehearsals, together with repertoire teaching CDs and backing tracks. Teachers may opt to enrol their students in this program, or simply attend the professional learning component of the program.

In comparison to recent years, the earlier concert dates in 2010 reduce preparation time for students and require that they are in their second year of recorder playing. Extension repertoire is also available for more advanced players.

The 2010 Festival of Instrumental Music will be held at the Sydney Opera House from 31 May to 3 June 2010 and promises to be another musically diverse and spectacular event.
