The Millennium Marching Band has places available for woodwind and brass players on the following instruments:

• Flute / Piccolo
• Clarinet
• Alto and Tenor Saxophones
• Trumpet
• Horn
• Trombone
• Euohonium / Baritone
• Tuba

What Skills Do I Need?

There is no pre-requisite AMEB/Suzuki/Trinity exam levels required in order to become a member of the Millennium Marching Band. You don't have to be a virtuoso - in fact we've had students join who have been playing their instrument less than 12 months! You'll be surprised how quickly your playing improves as a member of the Band and working with our great tutorial staff.

What If I Don't Play A Marching Band Instrument?

If your instrument is not on the list above, don't worry! You can still become a member of the marching band. Why not think about picking up a second instrument? If you can already read music, then half the work is already done. Our talented staff will gladly help you learn what you need to know. Why not think about joining the percussion section? There are many options available to you. Give the Marching Band Co-ordinator a call on 02 8512 1187 to talk about your needs.

What If I Don't Have An Instrument?

While most players will need to supply their own instrument, the Millennium Marching Band supplies specialist marching instruments for all horn players and tuba players (they're fibreglass - nice and light!!). Marching brass instruments are supplied free of charge. A limited range of other instruments are also available for hire from The Arts Unit at competitive prices. We'll also work with you to find an instrument if all else fails.
