About The Band

The Millennium Marching Band was established by The Arts Unit in 1999 to train young musicians in preparation for their performance in the Opening Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games as part of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Band. Since this time, the Band has continued to flourish and develop an outstanding reputation for excellence as one of the premier marching bands in Australia.

The Millennium Marching Band is, however, a far cry from the traditional notion of a marching band. It is a dynamic group, full of energy and drive with a focus on fun and entertainment. Our music is a mix of the popular, the traditional and the new. Combined with fast paced drill that is reflective of the music, the Millennium Marching Band is so much more than straight lines and traditional marches. So, if you want to enjoy the thrill of performing live to thousands, and television audiences in the millions, then the Millennium Marching Band is for you!

Who Can Join

Membership of the Millennium Marching Band is open to all students in Years 7 - 12 attending a government secondary or central school in New South Wales. Opportunities exist within the Band for instrumentalists, dancers, rhythmic gymnasts and even those with little or no previous experience in music or dance/ movement. There is a place for everyone. All you need is energy, commitment and a willingness to learn and give your best.
