As part of the new Voices in Performance initiative, the Arts Unit is running a State Choir in 2009 designed to provide an opportunity for talented government school students to rehearse and perform demanding repertoire in a State ensemble under the direction of professional conductors at Australia’s most prestigious performance venue, the Sydney Opera House.
The choir is open to government school students in years 8 – 12 from across NSW. Singers need to have at least some previous choral experience (at school or within the community), a good sense of pitch and (if possible) some music reading ability.
Involvement in the State Choir program is aimed to enhance and extend students’ commitments within their own school community.
In 2009, the NSW State Choir will rehearse in Sydney on
Monday 19 October 2009 (all day)
Tuesday 20 October 2009 (all day)
and will perform at the Sydney Opera House on
Tuesday 20 October (evening)
Wednesday 21 October (evening)
