Schools Spectacular 2009 - Reaching Out

From humble beginnings, the Schools Spectacular grew into an entertainment extravaganza. In its 25th year we celebrated the distance we had come. We acknowledged the contribution that the "Spec" had made on our students, teachers and schools as well as the wider community. We revisited the Australian spirit and lessons of the Spec.

 

It is clear that we have evolved.

 

Reaching Out is a concept that carries on the traditions and values that have been the legacy of the Spec and takes it that step beyond.

 

Reaching Out is a concept that encourages us all to look in all directions, to leave our shores, to cross our boundaries.

 

Reaching Out is an invitation to acknowledge who we are and to recognise what we have.

 

Reaching Out allows us to make statements about connection and inclusivity, respect and gratitude, tolerance and understanding.

 

Young Achievers Nominations

 

The Schools Spectacular has showcased the achievements of our public school students in all areas of the performing arts over the past 25 years. This year, as part of the ‘Reaching Out’ theme, the Schools Spectacular will celebrate the achievements of students who have made a significant impact within their school or out in the wider community.

 

We need your help to identify students in your school or other government schools who have made a significant contribution to their community. These students may have displayed positive traits that have seen them work in community organisations or have displayed leadership skills beyond their years. In essence, they should be students who are ‘reaching out’ to assist others in an exceptional way.

 

The stories that we collect may be incorporated into an item in this year’s Schools Spectacular, printed program and/or other associated media.
