One thousand voices combine in sublime harmony to form the Schools Spectacular Combined Choir.  The choir, one of the major musical forces in the show is comprised of groups from primary, central and secondary public schools across New South Wales.  Student groups from K-12 are eligible to audition.

Over 1800 Public School dancers, under the guidance of talented teacher choreographers, use every imaginable dance style and combine to give the Schools Spectacular the vitality and spectacle for which the show is renowned.  Student groups from K-12 are eligible to audition.

Aborignal Dance Ensemble (closed for 2009)

Talented Aborignal students from all over NSW join together to create an inspiring dance ensemble. Aborignal students from Years K-12 are invited to audition by preparing a 2-5 minutes piece. Live auditions will be held on 28 September in Sydney, and on 29 and 30 September in two regional areas.

Boys Dance Ensemble (closed for 2009)

Specialising in popping, hip hop and break dancing the Schools Spectacular Boys Dance Ensemble brings a contemporary and vibrant energy to the show. Both individual dancers and small ensembles from Years 7-12 are eligible to apply for the ensemble.

Featured Artists (closed for 2009)

Every year the Schools Spectacular offers talented Public School students the chance to shine as featured artists in the show.  Featured artists include vocal and instrumental soloists, small vocal and instrumental ensembles and variety artists - anyone with a special or unique talent.  Students from K-12 are eligible to audition.

Foyer Entertainment (closed for 2009)

Prior to the show and during intermission, audiences are entertained by a varied collection of performers in the foyers and the precinct outside the Sydney Entertainment Centre.  Foyer entertainment can include small music, drama or circus ensembles through to steel bands and concert bands.  Foyer Entertainment is a perfect way for Public Schools to highlight their outstanding arts programs.

Instrumentalists - Orchestra and Stage Band - Closing Date is Friday 31 July 2009

The 80 piece Schools Spectacular Symphony Orchestra and 20 piece Spectacular Stage Band are two of the elite student ensembles in NSW.  All music in the show is played live by these talented Public School students.  This can be up to 40 pieces of music which has been specially prepared by our team of professional arrangers to suite the show.

Choreographic Team (closed for 2009)

The Choreographic Team are selected from Public School teachers across New South Wales.  This talented team is responsible for guiding and challenging the thousands of students involved in the Schools Spectacular with innovative dance and movement.  NSW Public School teachers are eligible to apply.

Stage Management Team (closed for 2009)

A show of this proportion requires an extensive team to ensure the smooth and seamless execution of the event.  The team for the Schools Spectacular is made up of Public School teachers from across NSW.  From managing a tunnel to working on the arrival desk, teachers interested in being part of a show of this scale are encouraged to apply.  NSW Public School teachers are eligible to apply.

Music Positions - Closing Date is 15 May 2009

A variety of positions are open for NSW Public School teachers to become part of the Music Team who help put the show together.  Positions include the Stage Band Conductor, the Choral Conductor and Assistant Conductors.  Skilled NSW Public School teachers are encouraged to apply.
